Why Biofeedback

Who Can Benefit From Biofeedback Therapy?

If you're feeling overwhelmed by stress, anxiety, or persistent physical tension, you're not alone. These challenges can take a toll on both your mind and body, affecting your overall well-being and quality of life. At Aspire Psychotherapy, we offer biofeedback training as a powerful tool to help you gain greater control over your body's stress response. By learning to regulate your physiological reactions, you can reduce anxiety, manage stress more effectively, and improve your overall health.

Biofeedback can benefit a wide range of individuals. It's especially helpful for those who feel trapped in a chronic state of fear, anxiety, or stress, as well as professionals in high-stress, high-performance jobs. If you experience intense emotions and are looking for better ways to cope, biofeedback can support you in building emotional resilience. Athletes of all competition levels can use biofeedback to improve performance, while students struggling with test anxiety or general stress can find relief through these techniques. Creative professionals, from actors and directors to architects and designers, can also benefit from increased focus and emotional balance. Additionally, biofeedback offers a non-medication approach for anyone looking to enhance both physical and mental health. Match With a Therapist

Our Approach

Our Approach to Biofeedback

Our experts take a holistic approach to biofeedback training, focusing not just on the technology but on your overall mental health and well-being. Biofeedback is a powerful tool that helps you regulate emotions, reduce anxiety, and enhance performance, but it's only one piece of the puzzle. Your personalized treatment plan may also incorporate techniques like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and other evidence-based therapies to ensure a well-rounded approach to your care.

Our biofeedback services are led by Brie Scolaro, LCSW, who brings a unique perspective with their background in collegiate sports and expertise in Sports Social Work. Brie understands the discipline and dedication required to make lasting behavioral changes, making them uniquely equipped to guide you through this process. Whether you're looking to manage stress, improve focus, or enhance performance, we're here to support you every step of the way.

The Process

Getting Started with Biofeedback at Aspire Psychotherapy

Short-term training program

Biofeedback is a short-term training program, typically lasting 8-12 sessions, designed to help you better understand and manage your body's stress response.

Sensor-based monitoring

During these sessions, your clinician will guide you through the process, attaching a small sensor to your finger or ear to measure your heart rate and other physiological responses. This data is sent to a computer that provides real-time feedback through sounds, images, or other cues, helping you recognize how your body reacts to stress.

Learn practical skills

You'll learn how to use this information to develop practical skills that promote relaxation and improve both your physical and mental well-being.

Baseline Psychophysiological Assessment

Your journey begins with a Baseline Psychophysiological Assessment, which allows us to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your symptoms and goals.

In-office or at-home practice

Biofeedback sessions can be done in our office, and we also offer at-home equipment so you can continue practicing and building confidence in managing stress wherever you are.
